Gently Flows The Amber Grain - level 4
Gently Flows The Amber Grain - level 4
I have just recently had the rights returned to me for Gently Flows The Amber Grain from Alfred/Belwin as it has been out of print for a while. It is now available through this website for purchase. The score and parts have been remastered and corrections made.
When it was in print, it was part of the J. W. Pepper Basic Library, and currently is included on the West Virginia and Virginia State Concert Band list at level 3, and on the Alabama concert band list as Class D.
Belwin described the work as: Lush, lyrical and gorgeous describe this broad, original tone poem. Your band will have the opportunity to concentrate on some very musical elements including phrasing, balance, blend and intonation, all the while creating a very moving musical work with an ending that swells to a grandiose finish.
It is a beautiful level 3 - 4 work that tries to musically depict the scene I witnessed of a sunset in Kansas in early September, with the sun low in the sky and the wind gently undulating through a sea of golden harvest grain. The piece is dedicated to Mr. John Beyrent, who by his caring and humanity, made such huge differences in so many students across his long career as a music educator. Thank you John!
