"Music Is" 

Music Is  is a level 5 larger work for SATB Choir & Strings. It can be performed with piano as a reduction of the string parts is included in the vocal score.

The text for this work is an amalgamation of thoughts collected by the composer from music colleagues and friends responding to the question; "What is music, what does it mean to you?" It was a hard task for many, as music is the expression of feelings that cannot be put into words. Some  of that frustration of expressing the inexpressible resulted in phrases using a dichotomy extreme opposite emotions Joy - Tears, Sorrow - Smiles, Raging -Peace that when put in the context of music make complete sense. Shouts of silence, flamboyant simple scenes become understandable. The final three stanzas truly summarize the depth of music in our souls and the deep connections from human to human that music makes. 

It is an excellent work for high school, college, and strong community choirs. The  download of this work will include a vocal piano score, a full score, string parts, a midi realized recording, and midi realized practice enhanced voice part recordings.
